Genoa in discussions with Rennes for Albert Grønbæk | OneFootball

According to a report from Foot Mercato, Genoa CFC are in advanced discussions with Stade Rennais for Danish international Albert Grønbæk (24). The Italian side have reportedly offered a season-long loan with the option to buy the midfielder, who can also play as a winger, for €10 million.

It was a disappointing first season in France for Grønbæk, who only arrived last summer from Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt. Grønbæk struggled to settle into the Rennes team and, after six months, was sent out on loan to Southampton FC, where he finished the 2024/25 campaign.

At Southampton, Grønbæk similarly failed to find his feet as injuries curtailed his season. Grønbæk managed to make only five appearances across all competitions for the English side as they finished last in the Premier League.

Foot Mercato writes that Genoa have planned an important role for the winger, as they look to improve on their 13th-place finish in Serie A.
