The AC Milan players who are not on international duty trained today at Milanello, and updates have arrived on an injured trio.

According to the latest from Luca Bianchin of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the condition of Ruben Loftus-Cheek continues to improve and it is currently anticipated that the midfielder will return to full training during the week between the Udinese and Bologna games.

A similar recovery time is expected for Davide Calabria and Marco Sportiello, who are both almost ready to return. The goalkeeper has been out since he badly cut his hand in July which required surgery. For Calabria it is ‘almost impossible’ for him to be there against Udinese.

It means that Milan will be a bit short on depth in the midfield and full-back areas for the game against the Friulians after the break. Loftus-Cheek and Ismael Bennacer are unavailable, meaning Youssouf Fofana and Tijjani Reijnders will almost certainly start again after international duty.

Had Calabria been available there might have been the temptation to use him in place of the suspended Theo Hernandez at left-back, but now the choice will probably fall on Filippo Terracciano, with Alex Jimenez and Davide Bartesaghi competing for the spot.
