One of the positions where there are a few doubts heading into next season is the attacking midfielder role, with four names in the plans of the management.

La Gazzetta dello Sport start their analysis by looking at Daichi Kamada, who amassed 16 goals and 6 assists in 46 games this season and is expected to arrive on a free transfer. He is seen as a profile with quality, versatility and a low cost.

The unknown for him will be the adaptation to the rhythms of a new league, but what certainly does work in his favour is the numbers he has put up across various roles and in European competitions.

Then there is Brahim Diaz, who Milan have the chance to buy permanently for €22m but Real Madrid have a €27m buy-back. The Spaniard would require a substantial investment that would significantly lower the budget for the summer window.

The management are thinking about buying him because he has basically doubled his attacking output with 12 goal contributions (6G, 6A) this season. Stefano Pioli trusts him, and Brahim was an added weapon in several important games.

Charles De Ketelaere could well be the most discussed Milan player heading into the summer. He was the big investment of the post-Scudetto window, but with only one assist in 39 appearances he has struggled to adapt.

His numbers were nowhere near the ones he put up at Club Brugge in the 2021-22 season (18 goals, 10 assists) which convinced Maldini and Massara to go all-in. For the Belgian, the possibility of being used in multiple positions could help his cause.

Finally, we come to Yacine Adli who is the ‘true mystery’ of the season. After a good pre-season and good friendly performances, Adli disappeared from the radar and only played 6 games, and he was excluded from the Champions League squad list.

With just 140 minutes to show his quality, Adli has only played as an attacking midfielder and has no goals or assists. He has covered other positions in midfield before arriving in Italy, but it is expected that he will be loaned out.
