According to a recent report from SPORT, it has come to light that Turkish club Galatasaray have officially pulled out of the race to sign Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

It is to be noted that Galatasaray had shown the strongest interest in bringing the German shot-stopper to Turkey for weeks.

However, after several unsuccessful attempts, they have finally decided to walk away from the negotiations.

Galatasaray had been working hard behind the scenes to secure Ter Stegen’s services. The club made more than one offer, with their latest proposal said to be much better than the first.

Galtasaray have run out of patience

In Turkey, it was reported that there was real hope that this improved bid would convince Ter Stegen’s camp to accept the move.

However, Ter Stegen’s consistent refusal to consider the offer has forced Galatasaray to change their strategy.

Their coaching staff, led by Okan Buruk, have now decided to stop waiting for the German goalkeeper.

According to sources close to the Turkish club, they have already started looking at other options to solve their goalkeeping problem as soon as possible.

Surgery decision would have blocked move anyway

Even if Galatasaray had stayed in the race, another obstacle was about to appear. Ter Stegen is currently considering surgery to fix his back issues that have been haunting him for several months now.

If he chooses to go ahead with the procedure, he would be sidelined for around four months. This would have automatically ruled out any immediate transfer and pushed talks back until at least January.

For now, Galatasaray have moved on, and Barcelona will continue to wait for Ter Stegen’s final decision regarding surgery and his future.
