Milan ultras are staging a furious protest outside the private event to celebrate the club’s 125th anniversary, forcing the directors to arrive via a secret entrance.

The fans were already angry after last night’s 0-0 draw with Genoa and jeered the team off the pitch at the final whistle, but the majority of their fury is aimed at President Gerry Cardinale.

There were also a series of banners last night at San Siro urging Cardinale to sell the club, claiming he was “unworthy” of the history of AC Milan.

It did not end there, because for the first time ever, ultras have staged a protest outside the entrance to a private event marking the 125th anniversary of the club’s foundation.

“Players without hunger or dignity, you perfectly represent these owners” was one banner placed outside the event.

“Incompetent directors, club without ambition. You are not worthy of our history.”

Sky Sport Italia report the situation is so tense that directors including Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paolo Scaroni and Cardinale were urged to arrive at the event via a side entrance to avoid the crowd of ultras.

When coach Paulo Fonseca drove up and posed for pictures, there was silence from the fans, who primarily blame some players and the club owners for their current malaise.

Among those who were applauded by the fans present were teenage striker Francesco Camarda and legends Franco Baresi and Pietro Paolo Virdis.
