Fulham take on Bristol City in the Second Round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night at Craven Cottage.
The fixture pits two unbeaten sides against each other. Marco Silva’s Premier League team will be looking to kick-start a cup run, while their resilient Championship opponents will be aiming for an upset in West London.
Marco Silva is expected to make several changes to freshen up his side. Goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte, the club’s only summer signing, is in line to make his debut in place of Bernd Leno.
Further changes are expected in the frontline. Emile Smith Rowe is pushing for his first start after scoring the late equaliser against Manchester United last weekend. Raúl Jiménez is also set to be recalled to lead the line, with wingers Harry Wilson and Adama Traoré providing other options for Silva to rotate his squad.
The visitors are contending with a significant injury crisis, particularly in defence. Manager Gerhard Struber will be without key defenders Cameron Pring and Luke McNally, as well as first-choice goalkeeper Max O’Leary. Joe Lumley is set to deputise in goal.
Midfielder Joe Williams is also sidelined with an ankle problem. The attack will be led by Ephraim Yeboah, supported by the creative duo of Scott Twine and Anis Mehmeti.
Fulham have made an unbeaten start to the Premier League season, securing two hard-fought 1-1 draws against Brighton and Manchester United. Marco Silva’s side have looked defensively disciplined, with the two goals they have conceded coming from a penalty and an own goal. They will look to assert their Premier League quality in this cup tie.
Championship side Bristol City also arrive in London unbeaten so far this season. Gerhard Struber’s team have developed a reputation for being resilient and difficult to beat.
With four of the last six meetings between these clubs ending in a draw, the visitors will be confident of taking the game to their top-flight opponents.
Fulham: Lecomte; Tete, Andersen, Bassey, Sessegnon; Lukic, Berge; Wilson, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Jimenez.
Bristol City: Lumley; Tanner, Dickie, Vyner; Sykes, Knight, Randell, Morrison; Twine, Mehmeti; Yeboah.
This Carabao Cup fixture will not be broadcast live on television in the UK. Fans can follow full match updates via both clubs’ official media channels, with highlights available after the final whistle on Sky Sports and other digital platforms.
