While Manchester City are continuing talks with Galatasaray over a transfer fee for Ederson, the player is reportedly scheduled to travel to Istanbul this week.

The goalkeeper’s future has dominated much of City’s summer headlines, with fresh claims and counterclaims emerging almost daily. While some reports have suggested Ederson would remain at the Etihad for the 2025/26 season, others have maintained Galatasaray’s determination to secure the services of the 32-year-old.

Ederson himself had attempted to quiet speculation speaking during the FIFA Club World Cup over the summer, insisting that “99 per cent” of the transfer talk around his name was false.

Despite those remarks, links with Napoli, Galatasaray, and even Fenerbahçe have surfaced throughout the window. The Italians ultimately dropped out of contention owing to financial concerns, while Galatasaray have pressed on, with manager Okan Buruk openly admitting Ederson was “a very important option.”

Earlier this month, reports had suggested Manchester City had set a €20 million price tag on the goalkeeper, and the player had requested a salary package worth €10 million annually.

Galatasaray, meanwhile, sought to keep their fee closer to €10 million, leaving a significant gap between the two parties. Despite that, the Istanbul giants have continued to test City’s stance in the hope of finding a compromise.

According to new information from Turkish media outlet Habersarikirmizi, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, Galatasaray are now prepared to increase their initial offer of €10 million to Manchester City for Ederson.

Having reportedly not received a positive response from Etihad Stadium officials following their first bid for the Brazilian goalkeeper, the Turkish Super Lig champions are now willing to offer an additional €2 million in potential add-ons.

While the two clubs continue to negotiate on a transfer fee, Ederson has reportedly accepted Galatasry’s proposal to him personally and is scheduled to travel to Istanbul as soon as this week, with the hope of finalising a deal soon.

If confirmed, Ederson’s potential trip to Turkey would mark the strongest indication yet that his City career could be approaching its end after eight highly successful seasons at the Etihad Stadium.

For Pep Guardiola’s side, such a move would trigger immediate questions about replacements, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma expected to be the main name for that role, competing with James Trafford.

With Stefan Ortega also the subject of interest from across Europe, Manchester City could realistically lose both of the last few seasons’ senior goalkeepers in the same window – an outcome that would represent a dramatic reshaping of their squad’s spine just as the Premier League season begins.

As things stand, Galatasaray’s persistence appears to be paying off, with Manchester City faced by a delicate balance between holding firm on their valuation and avoiding prolonged uncertainty in a key position.
