Manchester City appear to hold the keys as to whether Jack Grealish has any chance of starring in the Bundesliga next season, according to a new report.
The England international is currently in the midst of his summer holidays while his club future remains uncertain, having been snubbed by Pep Guardiola for a place at the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup.
The Manchester City manager revealed this week that all parties came to a mutual agreement during a conversation following last season that would enable Grealish to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer.
That feeling from the side of all concerned comes after a difficult last two seasons for the 29-year-old, who will be desperate to re-find his form and importance to a side in time for next summer’s FIFA World Cup under Thomas Tuchel.
But with the second part of the restructured summer transfer window well underway, there is still no further indication as to where Jack Grealish will be playing his football next season, with a new development emerging concerning the chances of starring in Germany.
According to the information of journalist Christian Falk, any potential ‘dream’ of seeing Grealish operate in the Bundesliga will ‘remain unfulfilled’ with the player’s rumoured €18 million-per-year salary unachievable for Bayer Leverkusen in particular.
However, it is claimed that should the England international ‘waive half of his salary’ or Manchester City takes on the same sum, then a transfer to the German top-flight this summer ‘would be conceivable’.
Closer to home and there is expected to be a monitoring interest in Jack Grealish from clubs within the Premier League, although one report has already indicated that Tottenham Hotspur are not expected to explore a move.
The last few weeks have seen the former Aston Villa captain tied with a potential return to Villa Park, whilst there have also been mentions of potential interest from Newcastle United and Everton.
The North-East club could emerge as an interesting prospect particularly given Manchester City’s known admiration and desire to sign Eddie Howe’s mainstay right-sided full-back Tino Livramento this summer.
Following differences between the two clubs concerning the England Under-21 international’s price tag, negotiations involving the sides were placed on hold until a later date this summer after City had originally tried to sign the player in time for the FIFA Club World Cup.
Whether or not Jack Grealish could emerge in conversations over the defender remains to be seen, with several reports pointing towards the forward’s £300,000-a-week salary as a possible sticking point in any deal this summer.
