In a bid to bolster Ruben Amorim’s midfield following the release of Christian Eriksen, INEOS have begun shortlisting experienced options.

As a result, Manchester United have now emerged as surprise suitors in the race for Paris Saint-Germain’s Fabian Ruiz, joining Al-Nassr and numerous unnamed Premier League clubs in pursuit of the star.

FootMercato revealed this morning that the Red Devils had established their interest in a deal for Ruiz, despite PSG opposing his sale.

The French outfit are said to be reluctant to part ways with the 29-year-old in the aftermath of a stellar campaign, in which Ruiz played an integral role in the side lifting the Champions League trophy for the first-ever time whilst also reigning victorious in Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France.

He created a formidable relationship alongside counterparts Joao Neves and Vitinha in the middle of the park, so you can understand why Luis Enrique would seek to block any potential sale that would dismantle his perfectly executed squad.

An alternative way to view the Ruiz rumours…

While there’s reason to believe United would be interested in such a high-quality and technical player, there is a chance that the club’s name is being used to aid his contract negotiations, as suggested by Sport Witness.

Ruiz does have two years remaining on his current terms at the Parc des Princes, but may be seeking improved benefits following such a triumphant 12 months under Enrique.

Alas, playing into potential speculation of a move to Old Trafford could force PSG to meet his demands and grant him a more lucrative deal.

Across 2024/2025 in all competitions, Ruiz notched five goals and 10 assists in 54 appearances. He has started three of PSG’s four Club World Cup matches thus far, scoring once and assisting once.
