She has played for giants of the Women’s game like Bayern Munich, VfL Wolfsburg and FC Barcelona.

Rolfo has won an incredible 17 major trophies, including two Champions Leagues with Barca.

The Swede has also represented her national team 101 times, scoring 33 goals in the process.

In an interview with the club’s official website after completing a deal last week to join on a free transfer, she outlined why Manchester had to be her next stop on her exciting career journey.

Perfect match

Rolfo confirmed that she had been in conversations with the club over the summer and found the Red Devils’ project “very interesting.”

Elaborating on the process she explained, “it’s a big club, it’s a badge you want to play for but also now last season when United did a very good performance by reaching the Champions League and being one of the best teams in the league, it’s something I want to be a part of and I feel I can bring my skills to this team and help the team.”

She then also added that she sees United and herself as “a perfect match” at this stage of her career.

Positional future

Rolfo has predominantly been an attacking winger but she did play a lot of football at left back for Barcelona, showing off her versatility.

Commenting on her potential role at United she stated, “we had discussions that he (Marc Skinner) could fit me to be higher up as a winger, and I feel like here you use the wingers a lot, with crosses and coming around on the sides. So, it feels like a position that fits me, and I can help the team with my skills.”

Rolfo also claimed that she prefers to attack and that her speed and ability to take on players one versus one will be a big asset to this current United side.

Marc Skinner’s side will take on PSV Eindhoven in Sweden in the Champions League qualifier on 27th August and the club’s newest signing claimed it “would be very cool” to make her official debut in her home country.

She also added that she is “super excited to start the Champions League journey and I feel like we’re going to be successful there, give it our all and hopefully we can reach the next stage.”
