Free agents Calvert-Lewin and De Jong attract Fiorentina interest | OneFootball

Fiorentina are seeking an experienced striker to act as understudy to Moise Kean, reportedly targeting free agents Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Luuk de Jong.

The Viola were glad that Kean resisted interest from several clubs, including in the Premier League and Saudi Pro League, when his €52m release clause was still active.

Now that he has been locked down and is ready to sign a new contract, their focus turns to finding a suitable understudy for their star striker.

According to the Corriere dello Sport and Tuttomercatoweb, one of the names on their list is Calvert-Lewin, who is a free agent after his contract with Everton was allowed to run down.

He had already been linked with Fiorentina in December 2024.

The 28-year-old has a record of 57 goals and 18 assists in 239 Premier League games, along with four goals in 11 senior caps for England.

He found the net three times in 26 Premier League appearances last season.

Another even more experienced candidate is De Jong, whose contract with PSV Eindhoven expired over the summer.

The former Sevilla and Barcelona man will turn 35 this month and his fitness levels might need to be taken into consideration.

Fiorentina are competing in Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Conference League this season.
