Former France international Patrick Vieira is a top candidate for the Atlanta United head coaching vacancy, according to Tom Bogert.

The 48-year-old was most recently in charge of Strasbourg in France and was briefly linked with the USMNT role before it was eventually taken by Mauricio Pochettino.

Vieira has a history in MLS during a two-year spell with NYCFC between 2016 and 2018.

Atlanta President Garth Lagerwey has already confirmed that significant funds from the sales of Thiago Almada, Giorgos Giakoumakis and Caleb Wiley will be re-invested into the playing squad, leaving any potential new boss with a budget of around $50m to play with.
