France national team head coach Didier Deschamps has on Monday sparked concerns amongst all of a Real Madrid persuasion.
This comes amid a fresh insight into the wellbeing of Blancos-bound Kylian Mbappé.
Frontman Mbappé, of course, has spent the last couple of weeks lining out on the international stage, donning a custom-fitted face mask.
As much comes after the 25-year-old suffered a broken nose in France’s Euro 2024 opener against Austria.
Mbappé has looked some way short of his brilliant best ever since, with many having called into question whether such struggles could be down to ongoing discomfort.
Drawn on the subject by the media late last week, the departing Paris Saint-Germain star then all but confirmed as much, in explaining:
“As soon as I can get rid of this mask, I will. It’s horrible.”
Safe to say, then, that the last thing which Real Madrid’s supporters would have wanted to hear of was Mbappé preparing to line out at club level whilst still being required to make use of his mask.
If the latest comments on the part of Didier Deschamps are anything to go by, though, then this in fact looks altogether likely to be the case.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of France’s impending showdown with Spain, Deschamps explained:
“He’s going to have to adapt to wearing the mask for months. It limits his vision.”
