Club Brugge have announced that Philip Zinckernagel has left the club to join MLS side Chicago Fire. The 30-year-old Danish winger spent 2024 back on loan at the side where he broke out as a footballer, FK Bodø/Glimt. Clearly the winger was not part of the plans of Nicky Hayen this season as the head coach did not feel the need to bring him back to the club.

Zinckernagel really came to prominence in 2020 where he scored 22 goals and grabbed 18 assists in just 31 games for FK Bodø/Glimt. He was then bought by Watford where he struggled to make as big of an impact. In 21 games for the Hornets he only scored once, but did manage to provide five assists. For the 2021/2022 season he was loaned to Nottingham Forest, where he played 50 times and scored seven goals and provided 10 assists.

Rather than returning to Watford, he joined Olympiacos. Almost immediately after joining the Greek side he came to Belgium to play for Standard Liege. Zinckernagel had a great season for Standard, scoring 10 goals in 28 games. This form saw Club Brugge sign him and he now departs after just two seasons with seven goals and seven assists in 44 games.
