Serie A side Roma are reportedly keen on signing Matt O’Riley this summer. The Danish Internationalist left for Brighton in a £25m last summer but has failed to replicate the Player of the Year form from Celtic.

As reported by sports journalist Graeme Bailey, there are a number of Serie A sides interested in taking O’Riley to Italy next season.

Ange Postecoglou signed O’Riley for £1.5m in the January of 2022 with the MK Dons youngster helping Celtic overtake Rangers in a memorable midweek Glasgow Derby win and then hold onto the top spot for the next two seasons, leaving Celtic with three league titles, two Scottish Cups and one League Cup.

The Danish Internationalist completed a £25m+ move in the summer after an incredible individual season, which concluded with Brendan Rodgers’ side winning a League and Cup Double.

A number of clubs were in the running for O’Riley’s signature but it was the Seagulls that managed to get the deal over the line. Atalanta were also vying to sign the player with other interested parties.

Brighton looked like a sensible move and one that would propel O’Riley on. However, an injury on his debut has slowed the progress. The playmaker will likely remain at Brighton as he looks to put his stamp on the Premier League. The player has been limited to just 14 appearances, yielding 1 goal and 1 assist but a slow start doesn’t necessarily mean he will move on.
