Former Chelsea player Scott Minto has urged any young up and coming managers to give Chelsea a miss “massive time.”

The Blues are once again looking for a new manager following the departure of Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday after just one season at the club.

The Argentine endured an up and down campaign but rallied following a poor first half of the season to secure a top six finish and a return to European competition.

Minto urges young manager to avoid Chelsea

Following Pochettino’s departure the Blues have really stepped up their search for a new manager and have identified Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna as their preferred choice.

The 38-year-old is viewed as one of the brightest young managers in English football following back to back promotions from League One to the Premier League with the Tractor Boys.

It’s believed Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca is viewed as an alternative candidate, whilst Brentford’s Thomas Frank is also on Chelsea’s shortlist.

Minto has urged young managers like McKenna to avoid taking the Chelsea job.

However, Minto has fired a warning to any young managers thinking of taking the Chelsea job, and has urged them to stay away from it.

“Any young managers who have done really well at the moment, I would say give Chelsea Football Club a miss, massive time”, Minto told talkSPORT.

“That is the last thing you need, to jump in from a club, Kieran McKenna being one of them, that is completely stable to a club that is completely unstable.

“You need a really good coach, someone who can manage up, someone who can bring the kids through, someone who will tow the line.”

“For this year that has been Mauricio Pochettino and they are getting rid of him.”

It’s hard to argue against Minto but regardless of the mess the club is in, and the uncertainty surrounding it, many managers especially younger ones will jump at the chance to manage Chelsea.

Whoever the new manager ends up being the fan base must get behind them and give them all the support they need as this isn’t an easy job.
