According to Sky Sport Italia, the Rossoneri see the former Roma tactician as the ideal replacement for Pioli next season.

The Italian broadcasters reported that Milan directors think Fonseca would give the project ‘continuity’ by using the same tactical system as Pioli. Furthermore, the 51-year-old has a ‘balanced’ personality on and off the pitch, which suits Milan’s style.

Fonseca’s contract with Lille runs out next month, but representatives of the Ligue 1 giants are expected to meet him next week to discuss his future at the club.

Fonseca has also attracted interest from Marseille, but he denied an agreement with Lille’s rivals last week.

DAZN reporter Orazio Accomando confirms on X, formerly Twitter, that Milan are increasingly convinced about hiring Fonseca after a recent contact with the Portuguese.

The reporter claims Milan are ready to offer the ex-Roma coach a two-year deal.
