Liverpool fans can start to relax as they close in on the record-breaking signing of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. Negotiations have been taking place over the last couple of weeks to get the deal over the line and it finally looks like that might be the case.
With the transfer fee expected to be around the £126million mark, Wirtz will become the most expensive German player in history. The deal could also surpass the Premier League record with Moises Caicedo’s switch to Chelsea for around £115million.
Bild reporter Axel Hesse, as quoted by Anfield Sector on X, said: “BREAKING: Florian Wirtz to Liverpool is considered a done deal!”
“Negotiations are nearing completion, it seems possible Wirtz will complete his medical early next week.”
Anfield Sector have also quoted a report from Sacha Tavolieri, who first reported Wirtz’s move to Liverpool, saying: “Florian Wirtz has received green light from Bayer Leverkusen to complete his move to Liverpool Football Club next week. Clubs agreed on an amount around €150M.”
Wirtz will now feature for Germany on Sunday, as they face France in the third-placed playoff game in the Nations League.
Liverpool fans will be praying for injuries in that one so that this deal can get wrapped up as soon as possible.
