FC Barcelona continue preparations for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final against Inter Milan set to take place tomorrow at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic.

Barça head coach Hansi Flick led a 45-minute video session with the players prior to training, causing the on-pitch work to begin later than scheduled.

Flick’s chat with Pedri, Frenkie de Jong

As reported by SPORT, during the training session, Flick held a focused conversation with two of his most essential players: Pedri and Frenkie de Jong.

The Spanish midfielder, who has been in brilliant form this season, was the first to be approached, and shortly after, De Jong joined the discussion.

The three spoke for just over two minutes – enough time to reinforce points already covered in the earlier video session, but now tailored directly to the individuals involved.

Barcelona have not reached the finals of the UEFA Champions League since their treble-winning campaign under Luis Enrique, with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar leading the team.

Standing in their way are Inter Milan, representing the last and most challenging hurdle before a potential return to a Champions League final.

Flick seems to have a specific plan in place for facing Simone Inzaghi’s side, but he will require full concentration from his midfielders, who are central to the team’s structure.

Going up against the likes of Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the Barcelona midfield setup of Pedri, Frenkie de Jong and possibly Dani Olmo will have their task cut out on Wednesday.

Gavi and Eric Garcia will provide options from the bench if Flick decides to change things up, but Barcelona will be without Marc Casado and Marc Bernal, who are still recovering from their respective injuries.
