Barcelona’s emphatic 7-1 victory over Valencia on Sunday night brought many positives for the team, marking their return to winning ways in La Liga and delivering one of their best performances of the season.

Fermin Lopez stole the show after getting a rare opportunity in the starting XI while the team did not miss a step despite the absence of key players like Pedri, Gavi, and Robert Lewandowski in the lineup.

However, it was a particular moment during the match that caught the attention of manager Hansi Flick, who highlighted it in his post-match press conference.

With the game already done and dusted, the Barcelona head coach intended to bring on Gavi for the final minutes, but the La Masia product requested that Pablo Torre be sent on in his place.

“The situation that impressed me the most was when I spoke with Gavi. I wanted to put him on for the last 15 minutes, and he told me no, that I should put Pablo Torre in instead. That is incredible, it is fantastic,” said Flick, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

“You can see how the team and the players are connected with each other. It is amazing. As a coach, it is incredible. I love Gavi. I love that attitude. He wants to play every match, and to speak like that in this situation is fantastic, it is top,” Flick explained.

Flick accepted Gavi’s request and sent on Pablo Torre to play the final minutes, replacing Frenkie de Jong.

Torre had not featured in La Liga for five matches and had only seen action in 2025 during Copa del Rey games against UD Barbastro, where he scored one and provided two assists, and Real Betis.

Gavi’s gesture towards Torre reflected the strong bond between the players in the locker room, and Flick was ecstatic, knowing that this kind of team unity could lead to great success for Barcelona.
