Fiorentina's clash with Inter was abandoned on Sunday following an urgent medical situation at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Twenty-two-year-old midfielder Eduardo Bove collapsed on the pitch with nobody around him and required urgent medical attention as staff members rushed to his aid.

Fiorentina later confirmed Bove was under pharmacological sedation and hospitalised in intensive care.

Players from both clubs had circled around the player on the pitch to shield him from cameras while Fiorentina stars urged the ambulance to enter.

The emotional scene caused plenty of distress, and the referee initially suspended the game. Players then headed to the dressing room in tears.

The game was later officially abandoned and will now take place later due to the incident.
