Filip Jorgensen on what Enzo Maresca told him to do during games | OneFootball

Filip Jorgensen has been used exclusively in the cup competitions since signing for Chelsea, so he’s not been tested much.

Tonight’s opposition gave him a decent attempt though – they were actually pretty happy to shoot from everywhere, and as well as some really superb stops, the Swedish Dane also padded his stats with a few efforts right into his chest.

Every keeper loves a night like that, and it was no surprise that he was chosen to do the post-match interviews – and it was no surprise he was smiling through it.

Filip Jorgensen on what Enzo’s asked of him

One major highlight in the game was a superb double stop that the summer signing made – and he was of course asked about that:

“When I saw he got through a tried to go out a bit and make the goal smaller, make me bigger… I saved the first one and I had to be ready for the second one,”

He was then asked for his overall impression of his time at Chelsea, and he couldn’t have been more ecstatic:

“Yeah I’m very, very happy to be here, I’ve said it many times to my friends, family and agent. I just enjoy every moment and try to get better every day.”

He also had some interesting information on what he had been asked by his manager Enzo Maresca:

“Stay calm with the ball and try to play… do my thing and try to talk a lot with the teammates to help them stay connected.”

The communication issue is interesting – does Maresca feel that specifically Jorgensen is too shy and quiet? Or is more communication between keeper and defender just a general principle he wants more of in his team?

There are growing calls for the 22 year old to replace Robert Sanchez in the Chelsea goal, and we don’t expect that to change anytime soon.
