Legends field complete for Beckenbauer Cup in Munich

A team of Bayern Munich legends as well as another five heavyweight European sides will pay their respects to the legendary Franz Beckenbauer in a one-off mini tournament on 17 March.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest football figures ever, Beckenbauer died on 7 January 2024, aged 78.

As part of Bayern's 125th anniversary celebrations and in honour of Der Kaiser's storied career that included FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championships wins with Germany, as well as four Bundesliga titles and three European Cups with Bayern, legends of the game will take part in the already sold-out tournament at SAP Garden at Munich's Olympic Stadium.

Dutch giants Ajax have been confirmed as the sixth and final participants, alongside hosts Bayern, Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid, AC Milan and VfB Stuttgart. Bayern greats Philipp Lahm, Lothar Matthäus, Franck Ribéry and Arjen Robben are among the confirmed players for the unique event.
