Clint Hill was inducted in the Hoops' Hall of Fame in 2019

During his six-year stay at Loftus Road, Clint Hill helped QPR become a real Championship powerhouse, helping them win promotion to the Championship on two occasions, and becoming a real fan favourite at the club.

The centre-back made a somewhat unheralded move to QPR across London from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2010, but he would enjoy huge success at Loftus Road, and is still clearly well thought of by supporters.

It's not unfair to say that Hill is a club legend, and in October 2019 he was inducted into The Forever R's Club, QPR's hall of fame, and you'd struggle to find any supporters who would have disagreed with that decision, such was the impact he had on the club.

Hill joined the Hoops on a free transfer from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2010, and he made an immediate impact at Loftus Road, becoming a mainstay in Neil Warnock's side as QPR won the Championship title and were promoted to the Premier League.

Hill started all 44 Championship games he was available for that season, and it's clear he played a very important role as they lifted the title.

It was a strange start to the 2011/12 Premier League season for Hill, and he was sent off in their first game of the season, a 4-0 loss to Bolton Wanderers, and after serving his suspension, he was sent on a short-term loan to Championship side Nottingham Forest, perhaps indicating that he wasn't good enough for the top-flight.

After starting five games for Forest, he returned to Loftus Road and came straight back into the team as QPR beat rivals Chelsea 1-0 in October, capping off a whirlwind couple of weeks for Hill.

He was in and out of the side all season before the final few weeks, where he started eight consecutive games and helped QPR stay up on the final day of the season.

The following season saw Hill feature more regularly, and he wore the captain's armband from the start of 2013 onwards, but he was unable to help his side avoid relegation to the Championship.

Despite relegation, the defender remained at Loftus Road and was handed the club captaincy by Harry Redknapp, and he helped his side make an immediate return to the Premier League after winning the play-off final in dramatic circumstances against Derby.

At this point, Hill had been at the club for four seasons, won two promotions and helped them stay in the Premier League once, so he was certainly becoming a fan favourite, if he wasn't already one.

Similarly to their other seasons in the top-flight, Hill wasn't a regular at first but had a run of games towards the end of the season, but it was too little, too late, as they finished bottom of the league and were relegated.

His last season at the club saw him feature sporadically, and he made just 13 league starts as his side finished in mid-table.

He was told his contract would not be renewed that summer, bringing down the curtain on his six-year stay at the club, in which he became a cult-hero.

Three-and-a-half years later, he was introduced to the club's Hall of Fame, and you'd struggle to find someone who disagreed with that decision.

Clint Hill's career after leaving QPR

Hill joined Scottish giants Rangers on a free transfer after leaving QPR, making his debut for the side from Ibrox just shy of his 38th birthday.

It was the club's first season back in the top-flight of Scottish football since their demotion in 2012, and while it wasn't the club's greatest season, they finished 3rd, 39 points behind Celtic, Hill played 31 times, and scored six times too.

One of these goals was a memorable late equaliser away to Celtic, and he gave a decent account of himself north of the border considering his age.

He returned to English football for one last season in 2017/18, joining League Two side Carlisle United, where he continued to play regularly, making 42 appearances in total before retiring just shy of his 40th birthday.

Despite playing for a number of clubs, Hill will always be associated with QPR given his successful six years in West London, and he'll certainly be remembered as a cult-hero, rightfully being honoured by the club in 2019.
