FC Barcelona are set to take on Atletico Madrid in their upcoming clash in the Copa del Rey. In many ways, this is a huge tie for Hansi Flick’s men. A win here would give Barcelona a good chance of getting to the final, in a competition that the club is the record holders of.

Since it is the semi-final stage of the Copa del Rey, there will be two legs to decide which team gets to the final. The first leg between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid will take place at the Montjuic Stadium, so Flick’s men will hope to make a good impression.

Here is how the German coach could line up his team for the game.

Expected Line-up:

Goalkeeper: Wojciech Szczesny

The Polish goalkeeper has had a perfect record so far, and Hansi Flick will not want to risk anything in a game this crucial. For that reason, the Polish goalkeeper should be the one to start.

Right-back: Jules Kounde

In terms of effectiveness and team chemistry, Barcelona do not have a right-back better than Jules Kounde. The Frenchman connects well with his teammates, and is always aware of his individual duties as well.

Centre-back: Pau Cubarsi

Despite still being extremely young, Pau Cubarsi plays with a level of maturity that is quite difficult to match for any other player. Moreover, as one of the world’s best ball-playing defenders, his presence will be absolutely crucial.

Centre-back: Inigo Martinez

When it comes to experience, Inigo Martinez is among the few veterans at Barcelona who also guarantees quality. His partnership with Pau Cubarsi has been exceptional this season, so it would not make sense to change it.

Left-back: Alejandro Balde

The Spaniard has shown this season that he has the ability to make life difficult for any opponent. In a crucial game like this, he may just have to show that once again.

CDM: Frenkie de Jong

Since the start of the new year, Frenkie de Jong has showcased that he has the quality to consistently perform on the pitch. Heading into this game, it would make sense for Hansi Flick to rely on him again.

CDM: Pedri

Almost always with a solution to any problem that Barcelona may face, Pedri is one of Hansi Flick’s most trusted soldiers. Fortunately for the German coach, he is completely ready and available to deliver yet again.

RAM: Lamine Yamal

Despite the fact that the young Spaniard is currently dealing with a foot injury, there is a chance that he recovers before the game. If that ends up being the case, there is simply no question that Lamine Yamal will be the player to start for Barcelona.

CAM: Dani Olmo

It was clear enough in the last game to see just how impactful Dani Olmo can be for Barcelona when he is on the pitch. His sublime touches, quick turns, and ability to link up with his teammates is something that La Blaugrana desperately need in that advanced midfield role.

Always there to put in the work and be in the right place at the right time whenever he is needed, Raphinha is a true leader on the pitch for the team. While his goals and assists have been impressive this season, his commitment and work ethic is just as commendable.

Centre-forward: Ferran Torres
