Fermin Lopez has become a shining example of Barcelona’s impressive form this season.
The talented academy graduate returned to the starting line-up, stepping in for Gavi, who was rested as a precaution. Lopez once again proved his worth by finding the back of the net, marking his fourth goal of the season and his third in 2025.
His growing influence on the pitch reflects his development under Hansi Flick and reflecting after beating Valencia, he said,
“I feel better and more confident. The manager gives me opportunities, so I am very happy.”
As Barcelona advance to the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, the young midfielder remains unfazed by the possibility of facing strong opponents like Real Sociedad, Real Madrid, or Atletico Madrid.
“It doesn’t matter who we face in the semi-finals, I think we showed that we can compete with anyone,” he noted.
Ferran Torres’ current form has also caught attention. Fermin’s enthusiasm for his teammate’s performances highlights the strong camaraderie within the squad, as players celebrate each other’s success.
“The ‘Shark’ is on a roll. I’m very happy for him. It’s time to congratulate him,” he added.

On the defensive end, Wojciech Szczesny made headlines after keeping a clean sheet in the team’s emphatic 5-0 victory over Valencia. The Polish goalkeeper’s commanding display secured Barcelona’s spot in the Copa del Rey semi-finals.
Szczesny’s performance was his fourth clean sheet in eight games this season, further solidifying his position as a reliable figure between the posts.
Despite the ongoing discussions surrounding Barcelona’s goalkeeping choices, Szczesny remains focused on teamwork and collaboration.
“There is no problem between Inaki and I. We get on very well and we are helping each other a lot for the good of the team,” said the keeper.
Szczesny’s confidence continues to grow as he adapts to Barcelona’s style of play, which demands a goalkeeper comfortable with a high defensive line.
“I’m very happy that we managed to keep a clean sheet and it’s not a ridiculous result like 5-1 or 5-2, 5-0 seems better to me. I’m very grateful for the work my teammates did today, they really made it easy for me.”
His determination to help the team and maintain clean sheets will undoubtedly be crucial as Barcelona aim to secure more victories this season.
“I am at a very high level in terms of confidence. I am still adapting to a style that has a very advanced defensive line, but I am feeling better and more confident every time, and I am looking forward to being able to help the team,” he said.
