Manchester City have received a fresh proposal from Turkish giants Fenerbahce after the Etihad Stadium club rejected an opening offer for Ederson.
The Brazilian goalkeeper’s future has dominated headlines across the summer transfer window, with increasing signs that his long-standing spell at Manchester City could be coming to an end.
Interest first emerged from Saudi Arabia, where clubs had registered approaches in 2024, before Galatasaray opened formal discussions earlier this summer. Their attempts, however, largely failed after a reported €10 million bid was rejected by the Premier League giants.
Fenerbahce’s involvement marks the latest chapter in what is rapidly becoming a high-profile transfer saga. The Istanbul-based side are determined to strengthen their squad with a marquee signing before the window closes and view Ederson as a statement arrival.
Their pursuit comes in the same window that Galatasaray had explored a package deal for Ederson alongside Manchester City teammates Manuel Akanji and İlkay Gündoğan, underlining Turkish football’s growing ambitions.
For City, the prospect of losing Ederson would mark a seismic shift. The 32-year-old has been the undisputed No.1 for Pep Guardiola since 2017, winning multiple Premier League titles, domestic cups, and the UEFA Champions League.
But with just one year remaining on his current contract, the club already advancing in negotiations for PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, and having re-signed James Trafford from Burnley, the Etihad hierarchy may see this summer as the final chance to cash in.
According to the information of Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, Fenerbahçe have now submitted a new bid for Ederson with extra bonus clauses added to their initial €12 million offer.
It is revealed that officials at the Etihad Stadium are demanding a transfer fee of €15 million for their long-standing No.1 choice between the posts, and despite the difference in valuations at present, the report insists that negotiations are ongoing between all parties.
Should Fenerbahce succeed, it would mark one of the most eye-catching transfers in the Turkish Süper Lig this summer, and provide Manchester City with clarity on their goalkeeping plans for the now-ongoing season.
Gianluigi Donnarumma’s potential arrival has already been widely reported, with Fabrizio Romano recently revealing that the Italian international has a full agreement in place with the Premier League side, entirely dependent on Ederson’s departure.
What remains unclear is the impact on Stefan Ortega, who has also been linked with an exit. The Germany international has drawn interest from a number of clubs in recent weeks, with his future open following the arrival of James Trafford.
Manchester City’s goalkeeping department could therefore undergo a major reshuffle if Ortega and Ederson both move on before the deadline.
As negotiations continue, Fenerbahce will likely need to close the gap in valuations to get a deal over the line. With the window fast approaching its conclusion, all eyes remain on whether Ederson’s era at City is about to reach its conclusion after eight trophy-laden seasons.
