Stepping out on the field to play in the European Championships with not a whole lot of playing time over the past year, Arda Guler has shown no signs of rustiness for the Turkish National Team.

The youngster, on the contrary, has lit up the tournament for Vincenzo Montella’s side who have now qualified for the knockouts.

To this point, Guler has started two games for the Turkish side in the competition and even delivered a stunning performance in his most recent outing with a key pass and a passing accuracy of 94%.

Valverde heaps praise

Real Madrid’s Uruguayan superstar Federico Valverde was asked recently in an interaction on The Residency how he got along with Arda Guler and what he thought of the young sensation.

“I get along really well as long as Brahim [Diaz] translates for me,” he began jovially before going on to deliver massive praise on the youngster.

“He is an incredible player and we have still seen only 30% of what he is,” he added.

Needless to say, that comes as a massive statement from the Real Madrid mainstay. Heading into next season, all eyes will be on Guler to see if he can continue to deliver at his current level.

Roaring for Turkey

Guler, despite being just 19 years of age, is one of the pillars of the Turkish National Team and even scored on his Euro debut with a Golazo against Georgia.

There was, however, worry when the manager asked him to train separately and did not start him against Portugal in the team’s all-important group stage game. As confirmed later, however, the decision was made for medical reasons as the player was not at his 100%.

Looking ahead, Turkey will take on Austria in their first knockout clash of the event, hoping to secure a place in the quarterfinals. All signs, as it stands, point to Guler starting the game.
