FC Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has reportedly given the green light to a swap deal between Ansu Fati and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.

The English forward has recently found himself out of the team with Ruben Amorim citing his lack of effort in training as the reason he has been omitted from the squad.

Rashford is said to be unhappy with the situation and admitted that he is ready for a new challenge.

FC Barcelona are reported to be one club who are interested in the 27 year old and have reportedly discussed a swap deal involving Frenkie de Jong.

Reports from Spain via football365 report that United might pursue another player for Rashford in a player exchange, however.

“Deco, the club’s sporting director, is already working on a swap deal that could shake up the team: the arrival of Marcus Rashford and the departure of Ansu Fati.”

“The operation has the approval of Hansi Flick, who believes that the Englishman could bring more versatility and effectiveness to the Barça attack.”

With Rashford’s situation at Old Trafford judged as far from “ideal”, an escape to Barcelona can be seen as “perfect” for both parties.

According to the reports, Fati has not convinced Flick so far as he has failed to live up to the high expectations he set when he was younger.

The Spaniard needs a change of scenery and “regain confidence and show his potential.”

“United, who are looking to rejuvenate their squad and bet on players with potential, could be the perfect destination for him.”

Whilst it looks like United would love to get Rashford off the wage book, their interest in Fati is unclear. The club have had historical attraction to the player but severe injuries and poor form have dramatically decreased his reputation in football.

He has only played seven games all season for Barcelona, failing to register a goal or an assist. Moreover, whilst on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion last season, he hardly set the world alight, only scoring four goals in 30 appearances for the Seagulls.
