Italian agent Dario Canovi, father of Thiago Motta’s representative Alessandro, hints that fans and media are ‘trying to destroy’ the Juventus coach: ‘It’s one of the national sports.’
Motta is under increasing pressure at the Allianz Stadium following Coppa Italia and Champions League eliminations.
The ex-Italy international was insulted by Juventus ultras on Sunday night, on the eve of a crucial Serie A game against Hellas Verona.
Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli has confirmed his trust in the Bianconeri boss, but Italian media insist Motta remains under scrutiny and have even named four potential candidates to replace him in 2025-26.
Dario Canovi, one of the most experienced Italian agents and father of Thiago Motta’s representative Alessandro Canovi defended the Bianconeri coach in an interview with TMW.

“I have always said that in Italy, we need two national sports: one is creating idols, myths, and heroes; the other, our favourite, is trying to destroy them,” he said.
“Juventus are still at the top of the standings, and people fail to consider the mitigating factors he [Motta] has faced this season, starting with injuries.
“No one remembers that Juve are playing without four defenders and that many key players, like Nico González and Koopmeiners, were injured early on. Koopmeiners, one of Giuntoli’s most important signings, didn’t even complete the summer pre-season.
“Other teams are struggling, but I don’t see the same level of hostility that Thiago Motta is facing,” argued Canovi.

Motta is under contract at the Allianz Stadium until June 2027.
