End of the opening-day run: For the first time in 11 years, BVB have failed to win their opening game of the Bundesliga season (there was a 2-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen at home in 2014).
And yet they still did not lose: Borussia Dortmund are unbeaten in nine Bundesliga matches stretching back into last season (seven wins and two draws).
Strong start: Julian Brandt, who came on as a substitute at the start of the second half, scored artistically with one of his two shots. He ran six kilometres and won a strong 64% of his challenges. Brandt has collected seven scorer points in his last five Bundesliga appearances stretching back into last season (three goals and four assists).
Serhou Guirassy gratuliert, Julian Brandt strahlt vor Freude nach seinem schönen Treffer zum zwischenzeitlichen 1:0 beim FC St. Pauli.
Anton only scores away: Waldemar Anton has scored all three of his Bundesliga goals for Borussia Dortmund away from home – also in Munich and in Sinsheim.
The next red card: BVB received the most red cards of all the teams in the Bundesliga last season (six).
Filippo Mane (4. von links) wird von Schiedsrichter Jöllenbeck mit einer Roten Karte vom Platz geschickt.
Goal-getter: Serhou Guirassy has taken only 102 matches to score his first 65 Bundesliga goals. Only five players have done so more quickly: Timo Konietzka, Lothar Emmerich, Dieter Müller, Uwe Seeler and Harry Kane – two Dortmund players, one Köln player, one Hamburg player and one Bayern player.
Uncharacteristic miss: Guirassy has missed only two of his 13 penalties in the Bundesliga; the only previous miss was against Hoffenheim keeper Oliver Baumann on Matchday 31 of last season. However, he was up against a specialist at the Millerntor: Nikola Vasilj has saved five of his six penalties faced in the Bundesliga. The 11 other St. Pauli goalkeepers in Bundesliga history have only saved seven spot-kicks combined.
Serhou Guirassy schoss ein Tor, vergab aber auch einen Elfmeter beim 3:3 des BVB beim FC St. Pauli.
Long time coming: St. Pauli picked up a point in the Bundesliga after being two goals behind for the first time since 23 August 1996; back then it was a 4-4 home draw against Schalke.
Only against Dortmund: Eric Smith also scored his second Bundesliga goal against BVB. He also scored from long range on Matchday 7 of last season. On that occasion at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, he levelled the scores at 1-1 in a 2-1 home victory for BVB.
