Manchester City veteran Bernardo Silva seems poised to part ways with the Premier League side. In recent days, the Portuguese veteran has been linked with moves to Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, with the Spanish club emerging as the frontrunner in the race.

According to a recent report from Spain, Silva is eager to move to Barcelona this summer. The report also mentions that the 2023 UEFA Champions League winner feels his time at Manchester City has ended and that he has a release clause of €58 million.

In his latest column for CaughtOffside, transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano provides the latest on the Silva file. He also notes that Silva might be a tricky deal to complete given the Catalan giants’ current Financial Fair Play situation.

“Bernardo Silva’s name keeps coming up in the transfer rumors in the press, with some outlets saying he’s already decided to leave Manchester City in the summer,” Romano wrote. “My understanding remains that the possibility for the player to leave Man City is realistic, yes; but no communication arrived yet to the club as Bernardo wants to focus on the final games.

“Barcelona love Bernardo, they already tried for years to bring him to the club; let’s see if they will insist again based also on Financial Fair Play. But also Bernardo himself will not make a formal decision until the end of the season.”

It’ll be interesting to see if this shifts the dynamics of the race for Silva. Still, another report suggests that Manchester City would prefer the midfielder to join a team other than PSG due to the strained relations between Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
