There is a lot of attention being given to the recent Marcus Rashford operation that Barcelona is involved in. It now seems likely that the Catalan club has finally managed to get their hands on a winger this summer. However, the deal needed to be feasible for Barcelona.

In that context, with reputable sources now confirming an agreement for his arrival, Barça needed Rashford’s help to make this deal work out. After all, one of the primary reasons as to why the club did not decide to pursue Luis Diaz’s signing was due to their unwillingness to overextend themselves for him.

Instead, the Rashford operation for Barcelona seemed to make a lot more sense. With various reports coming out sharing details about the expected transfer, there has been a lot of information circling around in relation to the Manchester United forward’s arrival.

Now, even Fabrizio Romano has chimed in to set the record straight and provide the details for this transfer. First and foremost, it is to be remembered that this is a loan deal, but there is an option to buy included that Romano has now revealed as well.

As per the Italian journalist, the purchase option for Rashford is worth €30 million. This price is even lower than previous reported figures, and some saying that it was around the €35 million mark. In that regard, it seems that Barcelona have managed to negotiate that price down quite well.

However, the salary does look a little high on the other hand. The English winger, as per the information provided by Romano, will earn €14 million gross as salary coverage alongside bonuses that will be linked to appearances for the club.

Moreover, a pay cut was involved to come to this agreement. Romano reveals that the English winger took a 15% pay cut to make this deal happen, understanding that Barcelona would need him to make certain sacrifices to help this deal go through, but Manchester United will contribute no portion of that agreed salary.

Lastly, the documents related to the operation have now all been sealed and the player is set to land in Spain soon. As for what is next, Barcelona might have to consider the topic of potential shirt numbers for the player as well once he joins. Fortunately, it now seems that Hansi Flick will finally get his new left-winger.
