Fabrizio Romano has issued his verdict on how many signings Ivan Juric must make at Southampton in the January transfer window.

With the January transfer window opening just tomorrow (Wednesday), all eyes will be on the new Southampton manager Ivan Juric. Looking at every Premier League club, it is clear and obvious to say that the Saints need to make deals happen, perhaps more than any other club.

However, as we all know, it is not as easy as Southampton going on a spending spree. There are certain limitations and rules which nobody really likes but everybody must follow nevertheless.

Regardless, Saints are in a position where they must make something happen, by any means necessary.

According to Fabrizio Romano (h/t GIVEMESPORT), Ivan Juric has consistently been a manager who requires fresh legs and players who are both willing and ready to adapt to his footballing philosophy. Therefore, Romano thinks Juric will need up to three new signings in the January transfer window.

In his own words, Romano said: “Ivan Juric is always a manager who wants fresh legs and also players who are ready to adapt to his ideas. Very different to what we can see now at Southampton, he wants a very aggressive style of football. So he will need probably two, three players in January.”

Ivan Juric seems like the ideal manager for Southampton right now. As pointed out by Romano, Juric wants to play an aggressive brand of football, which is a stark difference to how Martin played.

Under Martin, Southampton players were forced to be prudent, patient and borderline negative. This did not fit in well with the Saints' return to the Premier League. So, while we can respect Martin for what he achieved in the Championship, it was always time for a new tactical approach in the top flight.

Who Southampton end up signing remains to be seen. There are, of course, options at hand. There are a few players currently at St Marys Stadium on loan, who could be relieved of their contracts to free up wage allocation and loan slots. Otherwise, players could be sold to raise more budget.

The most recent Southampton transfer target is Glen Kamara. The Rennes midfielder is linked with a move away and having experience playing in England, is linked to both Southampton and Ipswich Town.
