Manchester City have reached an agreement over a second consecutive full-back exit from their first-team squad in successive days this week, it has now been confirmed.

The latest transfer negotiated by Manchester City’s transfer team, headed up by sporting director Txiki Begiristain, follows a permanent agreement signed off for outcast defender Joao Cancelo.

The Portugal international has headed to Saudi Arabia, joining up with Al Hilal in a deal understood to be worth approximately £21 million with no further add-ons or clauses included in the negotiation.

It brings an end to an uncertain summer for the 30-year-old right-back, who had his eyes set on a return to FC Barcelona this summer after a season-long loan with the club last campaign. Unfortunately, the Catalan side were unable to finance a move of any sort.

Now, Manchester City have followed up their work on Cancelo’s future by negotiating an exciting deal for highly-rated Burkina Faso international defender, Issa Kabore and a move to a Champions League club.

According to the information of transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, Portuguese giants SL Benfica have now completed deal to sign Manchester City’s highly-rated defender, Issa Kaboré on a season-long loan.

It is detailed that the agreement will be in place until next June, with the deal crucially not containing an option to buy the 23-year-old on a permanent deal upon the conclusion of the loan.

Romano also reveals that the entirety of the player’s salary will also be covered by Benfica this season, in a further financial boost to Etihad Stadium officials.

Pep Guardiola and his coaching staff have been left impressed by the form and showings of Issa Kabore in Manchester City’s training this summer, and as such kept the door open to an inclusion in their first-team squad – should that be necessary.

Guardiola has shown his appreciation for the player’s attacking abilities as a full-back, exclaiming his “love” for the defender following one particular phase of play on the training ground that resulted in the 23-year-old scoring.

However, Manchester City remain content with their existing options in his position, and as such have deemed it more beneficial for the full-back to ply his trade at Benfica, who will also compete in this season’s UEFA Champions League.
