Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery has reportedly given the management the green light to pursue Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford.
The 27-year-old has been out of the Ruben Amorim’s plans for the past 11 fixtures. He hasn’t set foot on the pitch since being expelled from the matchday squad ahead of the Manchester Derby in mid-December. But while his departure has been considered inevitable, the striker has been struggling to find himself a new home.
Rashford was linked with a move to AC Milan, but the Serie A giants eventually used their solitary spot allocated for British players on Kyle Walker. Borussia Dortmund was also considered an option, but a move never materialized. Moreover, Barcelona remains the Englishman’s dream destination, but it remains a difficult track due to the Blaugrana’s Financial Fair Play struggles.
Nevertheless, Aston Villa have emerged as a possible solution in recent hours. The Villains are reportedly interested in signing the Man Utd exile on loan until the end of the season.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Emery has now given his consent, as the negotiations between the two parties are ongoing. Nevertheless, the transfer market insider admits that it remains a difficult deal to conclude before Monday’s deadline.
“Unai Emery has given the green light to the Aston Villa board to try advance on Marcus Rashford loan deal,” posted Romano on his official X account on Saturday morning.
“Expensive and difficult one but Villa have already approached Marcus’ camp, strong interest…and negotiations ongoing.”
Therefore, it remains to be seen if the Villains will manage to reach the finish line in time. Rashford could be in favour of the move as it would allow him to escape his ordeal under Amorim and even get the chance to play in the Champions League knockout stages.
