‘Extraordinary’ – Pep Guardiola reveals Man City star’s praise for Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal | OneFootball

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has revealed that a leading member of the Sky Blues’ squad has long been singing the praises of Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal.

Man City and Barca, for those not aware, are primed to lock horns this week.

As part of their respective pre-season tours of the USA, the heavyweights of European football will clash in a high-profile friendly in Orlando, in the early hours of Wednesday.

Ahead of the matchup, City boss Pep Guardiola, in turn, took his place in front of the media on Tuesday morning.

The Spaniard of course made his name as a player and manager alike whilst on the books of Barcelona, therefore labelling the opportunity to face off with the Blaugrana as an ‘honour’:

“For me it’s always special to play against Barça. It’s the club of my life. I don’t care if it’s a friendly. It’s always an honor for me to play against them.”

From here, Guardiola’s attentions were then diverted towards the aforementioned Lamine Yamal.

Wide-man Lamine remains on his vacation at present, meaning he will play no part on Wednesday after leading Spain’s charge to glory at Euro 2024.

When drawn on the talents of the latest La Masia sensation, though, Guardiola was nevertheless quick to heap praise on Lamine, admitting that Sky Blues midfielder Rodri has long been his compatriot’s biggest admirer:

“Lamine? He’s extraordinary. I always ask about him when Rodri comes and he talks wonders about Lamine.”
