There is a ‘growing expectation’ that Nicolas Jackson will leave Chelsea before the end of the summer transfer window.
Chelsea will consider suitable offers for the forward following summer deals for Liam Delap and Joao Pedro. The addition of the duo has cast doubt on Jackson’s role in the side and teams in the Premier League and Europe are monitoring his situation.
Manchester United and Newcastle United have kept an eye on Jackson, though both are prioritising a move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko. The former could emerge as an alternative to whoever loses out in the chase for the Slovenian striker.
Aston Villa have also been mentioned as a potential destination, with head coach Unai Emery having worked with the player at former club Villarreal.
Chelsea’s high asking price complicates matters but The Athletic are reporting that there is a ‘growing expectation’ that the 24-year-old will depart before the end of the window.
He has scored 30 goals in 81 games across two seasons at Chelsea, while his physical profile and experience of England has led to suitors among the Blues’ Premier League rivals. ‘Developments’ on Jackson’s future are expected in the coming days.
Chelsea are working to reduce the numbers in their squad before the start of the Premier League season.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Lesley Ugochukwu and Carney Chukwuemeka are all in talks over permanent exits for a combined sum of around £65m.
That fee is set to be invested in a deal for RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons, while interest also remains in Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.
