Lee Hendrie has told FLW his prediction for Coventry City's clash with QPR on Saturday
Lee Hendrie has predicted Coventry City will beat QPR 2-1 when the two sides meet on Saturday.
The Sky Blues host Julien Stéphan’s side in the third game of the new campaign, with the team aiming to maintain their unbeaten start.
Frank Lampard’s team won a dramatic clash with Derby County last weekend, coming out the better side by a 5-3 scoreline with goals from Bobby Thomas, Haji Wright, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Ephron Mason-Clark and Victor Torp.
But QPR are yet to win under their new manager, having played out a 1-1 draw at home to Preston North End on the opening weekend before losing to Watford last time out, so they will be keen to get some points on the board in these early stages of the new campaign.
Hendrie believes that Coventry have to be winning games like their home clash against QPR if they are to push for a play-off place again this season, after losing out to Sunderland in the semi-finals last term.
He has tipped both teams to score, but expects the Sky Blues to get on the right side of a 2-1 scoreline on Saturday.
“I think if Coventry are to really consider themselves as challengers this season of a possible promotion play-offs coming up against QPR, I think being at home as well, I’d have them as firm favourites,” Hendrie exclusively told Football League World.
“I think they’ll get after QPR.
“Again, Frank’s trying to deliver good things there, and I think Coventry will take all three points again.
“I’m going to go for a victory for Coventry, and it’ll be 2-1 Cov.”
Coventry finished fifth in the Championship table last season, earning the team a play-off semi-final against Sunderland.
But a 3-2 aggregate loss consigned the club to another year in the second division, their second heartbreak in three years in the play-offs.
Lampard will be hoping to guide the Sky Blues to a third top six finish in four years, with their sights set on ending a 25-year wait for top flight football.
Coventry will host QPR on Saturday in a 3pm kick-off.
Coventry are at home and have shown their attacking prowess with their 5-3 win over Derby last weekend.
Meanwhile, QPR are without their big name summer signing Kwame Poku, who is likely to be absent until after the September international break.
Lampard’s side should have the edge, but defensive frailties revealed last week could keep the London outfit in the game.
