GGFN can report that Mainz are set to make a move for Sturm Graz’s striker William Bøving, with the future of Jonathan Burkardt up in the air.
We have previously reported that Bundesliga clubs were interested in the Denmark under-21 striker, who is ready to take the next step in his career.
The price for the 22-year-old will be around €5m, but Mainz will face competition from clubs in Italy, England and Spain.
Bøving is currently with Denmark at the under-21 EUROs where they topped their group and have already secured progress to the next round. The striker scored in their 3-2 win against Ukraine.
This season, Bøving ended the year with 11 goals and five assists as Sturm Graz won the Austrian Bundesliga for the second year in a row.
Considering the future of talisman Jonathan Burkardt is in serious doubt as a move to Frankfurt looms, Bøving may be seen as the replacement for the 24-year-old. On top of this, Sturm has proven to be a great school for strikers in recent seasons with Mika Biereth, Rasmus Højlund and Emanuel Emegha all passing through.
