Exclusive: Denis Lavagne discusses PSG after Mbappé
French coach Denis Lavagne expressed his admiration for Paris Saint-Germain's ability to smoothly navigate the post-Kylian Mbappé period in a statement given to "Foot Africa".
Paris Saint-Germain didn't try to find a like-for-like replacement for Kylian Mbappé, because I think it's almost impossible to find a player at Mbappé's level. Instead, they simply changed their style of play, building their game and strategy around youth and teamwork. And that's what has produced the results we're seeing now.Would they have been able to do this with Mbappé still there? We'll never know. But now, they've been lucky to have Dembélé, who wasn't really a goal scorer before, but since January has been finding the net relentlessly... So, really, it was a change in policy that replaced Kylian Mbappé—not just a new signing.
Over 308 appearances for PSG, Kylian Mbappé scored 256 goals and provided 110 assists.
