An exclusive report claims that Chelsea had scouts watching Sporting again this week, but this time it was not for sought-after striker Viktor Gyokeres.
The Blues do hold a firm interest in signing Gyokeres and could well still decide to make a move to sign him in the summer of 2025. And I am sure as the scouts were apparently there watching the game anyway, that they would have also cast an eye over Gyokeres once again.
Gyokeres was on the losing side in the game as he saw his side lose 2-1 against Club Brugge in the Champions League last night, with the striker also getting booked.
But fear not Chelsea fans who want the club to sign the prolific striker, it was not Gyokeres we were watching anyway, and the player in question WAS on the winning side!
Ordonez was in control last night
According to an exclusive report today from TBR Football, both Chelsea and Newcastle were at the game to continue their checks on Brugge’s highly-rated Ecuadorian centre-back, Joel Ordonez.
It isn’t the first time Chelsea have recently been linked to the young defender, so it appears that there could be something in this one.
More than 20 clubs were represented at the Jan Breydel Stadium and as well as Chelsea and Newcastle, Manchester United were also there.
I think it’s very normal for scouts to be at most of these games to be honest, but it is interesting to see that the Chelsea focus was on Ordonez this time.
He does look like a real talent, and he managed to keep Gyokeres quiet which is no easy task because he is a real handful of a striker who bangs in goals for fun.
