Serie A refereeing expert Graziano Cesari feels that there was “absolutely” no foul by Lautaro Martinez for the third Inter Milan goal against Monza.
The veteran former referee dismissed calls for the goal to be disallowed while analyzing the goal on Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInter1908.
Inter Milan beat Monza 3-2 in a dramatic comeback over the weekend.
The Nerazzurri found themselves behind 0-2 in the first half, facing one of the shock results of the season.
However, Inter fought back. They scored three goals without reply to take three points against the team at the bottom of the Serie A table.
Inter’s last goal was actually a Monza own goal. Brianzoli defender Giorgios Kyriakopoulos was unfortunate to turn the ball into his own net.
The Greek defender was not able to steer the ball out for a corner.
Inter captain Lautaro Martinez was putting Kyriakopoulos under pressure. Therefore, the defender knew that if he did not get something on the ball, Martinez would almost certainly score.
In the aftermath of Saturday’s match, there were some doubts about that third Inter goal.
Suggestions on social media pointed to a potential foul by Lautaro Martinez on Kyriakopoulos. This would certainly have been grounds to disallow the goal.

But as far as whether or not it was a foul, expert former Serie A referee Graziano Cesari wasn’t convinced.
“In my opinion, absolutely not,” he argued.
“The Inter player tries to make contact with the ball,” he noted. “And does so in a fair way, getting his head to the ball.”
“So for me, there’s no foul in it,” Cesari explained.
“For me, it’s an absolutely good goal,” he made clear of the Monza own goal.
