Ex-Roma boss Paulo Fonseca the favorite to become next Milan manager | OneFootball

AC Milan have intensified their efforts to secure former Roma and current Lille boss Paulo Fonseca as their next manager.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Rossoneri made fresh contact with the Portuguese technician in recent hours and negotiations are progressing smoothly.

Fonseca, who managed Roma from 2019 thru 2021, is keen on taking the helm and seems ready to move forward to the final stages of the process if everything goes according to plan. Though, Milan still have yet to make a final decision as they consider proceeding with the formalities of the contract.

Nonetheless, the 51 year-old, who also drew interest from Marseille, has emerged as the front-runner for the position after Milan held talks with several candidates, including former Real Madrid, Sevilla, and Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui.
