Matteo Darmian feels that Inter Milan must put today’s Serie A draw against Parma behind them and shift their focus to Bayern Munich.

The 35-year-old former Manchester United and Torino defender spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the match, via FCInterNews.

The Nerazzurri had the chance to go six points clear at the top of the Serie A table.

And it seemed as though Inter were well on course to do just that. They had a two-goal lead when they headed in at halftime.

However, Inter collapsed in the second half, allowing Parma to score two goals in the space of just nine minutes after becoming far too passive.

After Parma equalized, Inter did start to push forward in attack once again.

However, by then it was too late. The Nerazzurri could not find the goal that would restore their advantage.

Veteran wingback Matteo Darmian was the player who scored Inter’s opening goal this evening.

And the Italian international admitted that it’s “hard to explain” how the team switched off so much afterwards.

“A team like ours that was 2-0 up can’t let themselves get caught like that,” he said.

“It already happened against Udinese,” he continued. “We have to work on it.”

Of the team’s complacency, Darmian admitted that “You can’t do that in Serie A.”

“This draw shows that.”

“Now let’s put this result behind us,” said the Inter wingback. “On Tuesday we have another important match to prepare for as best we can, against a very strong team.”

“But we’ll be able to show our worth,” said Matteo Darmian.

The 35-year-old noted that “it’s a different competition” against Bayern.

“We care about moving forward in every competition we’re in.”

“We’ll go there to play a great match. We know the difficulties that we can face against a team who are equipped to win everything,” Darmian noted.

“But we’ll go there to play a great match, and prepare for it as best we can.”
