Inter Milan midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is fit to return in tomorrow evening’s Serie A match against Empoli.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Mkhitaryan has been a notable absentee for Inter over the last couple of matches.
The 35-year-old former Arsenal and Roma midfielder picked up a thigh problem in the wake of the Supercoppa Italiana.
Therefore, Mkhitaryan has missed Serie A matches against Venezia and Bologna.
However, the Corriere reports, Mkhitaryan is just about ready to make his return.
According to the Corriere, Mkhitaryan was still working individually in training yesterday rather than completing a full session with the rest of the squad.
However, this was just a precaution. The signs are very positive that the Armenian is ready to return to the squad.
Therefore, Mkhitaryan will certainly be available for Inter’s next match. The Nerazzurri host Empoli in Serie A tomorrow.
However, reports the Corriere, Mkhitaryan is unlikely to start that match.
The 35-year-old is still a doubt to play ninety minutes. Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will hardly want to take risks with such a key player’s fitness.
Therefore, it will likely be a midfield trio of Piotr Zielinski, Kristjan Asllani, and Nicolo Barella once again.
