Southampton and Everton remain in discussions over the future of highly rated midfielder Tyler Dibling, with the Saints tabling a fresh proposal. According to Florian Plettenberg on X, “Southampton have made a counter-offer to Everton regarding Tyler Dibling. Everton can accept this offer at any time, which would trigger the deal.”
The new approach comes after Everton’s initial offer, believed to be in the region of €30–31 million plus add-ons, was rejected. Southampton’s valuation has consistently been set at between €55–65 million, a figure that reflects the 21-year-old’s rapid rise and potential. The counter-offer is expected to be slightly lower than that original valuation but still marks a significant commitment.

Dibling’s performances have been a bright spot for Southampton, showcasing his ability to dictate play from midfield, drive forward with the ball and influence the game in the final third. His vision, composure and technical skill have attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, but Everton have emerged as the most serious contender.
For Southampton, the sale of Dibling would represent one of the most lucrative departures in their history. His market value has surged in the past year, with his age and homegrown status adding further appeal for top-flight suitors.
Everton’s interest in Dibling is part of a broader push to add creativity and dynamism to their midfield. Following seasons in which goals from midfield have been scarce, the club’s recruitment team is keen to secure a player capable of both creating and converting chances.
The Toffees have been operating under tight financial conditions, which makes any move for Dibling a carefully calculated one. The initial rejection of their €30–31 million plus add-ons offer suggests they are not prepared to meet Southampton’s full valuation, but the counter-offer provides an opportunity to find common ground before the transfer window closes.

With Southampton signalling their willingness to negotiate, the decision now lies with Everton. Accepting the counter-offer could trigger a deal that would see Dibling move to Goodison Park in a matter of days. However, there is always the risk that holding out for a better price could allow rival clubs to step in.
For Dibling, a transfer to Everton would be a step into a side where he could quickly become an influential figure. For Southampton, it would be a major sale that could help reinvest in their squad for the challenges ahead.
For Everton supporters, the pursuit of Tyler Dibling is an encouraging sign that the club is aiming to bring in young, technically gifted talent rather than short-term fixes. Dibling’s ability to link play, carry the ball from deep and chip in with goals would immediately strengthen Everton’s midfield options.
However, fans will also be aware of the financial constraints and the importance of getting value for money. Committing to a fee in excess of €50 million would be a significant risk for a player who, while clearly talented, has yet to prove himself consistently at the very top level. The key will be ensuring that if the deal happens, it does not compromise the club’s ability to strengthen other areas of the squad.
Most would welcome Dibling’s arrival, especially given his potential resale value if he develops as expected. The hope would be that he could become a central figure in David Moyes’ team for years to come, providing the creativity and energy needed to take Everton up the Premier League table.
