Manchester City could now be the subject of transfer interest from Everton as the Merseyside club prepare to turn away from talks with Southampton for Tyler Dibling.

The Hill Dickinson Stadium side have been actively searching for attacking reinforcements ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season, with the Saint’s teenage star emerging as one of their top targets.

However, negotiations with the south coast club have proven difficult, and Everton are now assessing alternative options as the final month of the window approaches. At 29 years old, Jack Grealish would represent a radically different profile to Dibling, but with his City future hanging in the balance, Everton could see an opportunity to bring in a proven Premier League name on more favourable terms.

Grealish has fallen significantly down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium in recent months and has already been linked with a host of top-flight clubs, including West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Napoli from further afield.

City, for their part, remain open to a temporary exit for Grealish but have so far received few enquiries. With the player eager to find regular minutes and the Manchester club keen to streamline attacking depth following the arrival of Rayan Cherki, the timing may now be right for a serious proposal.

According to a new report from talkSPORT, Everton are now set to step up interest in Manchester City’s Jack Grealish as they prepare to turn attentions away from Southampton’s Tyler Dibling.

It is explained that the Saints knocked back the Merseyside club’s latest offer for Dibling worth around £40 million, instead demanding £50 million consisting of an initial £45 million plus £5 million in add-ons and a 25 per cent sell-on clause.

From the side of Grealish, his future remains undecided after previously attracting a level of interest from Tottenham, alongside clubs across Europe and over in Saudi Arabia.

Although Everton sources recently distanced themselves from a concrete Grealish approach, changing circumstances could prompt a fresh look, especially with Manchester City potentially open to subsidising part of the player’s wages to facilitate a move.

Additionally, Grealish’s preference to remain in the north of England may play into Everton’s favour. The player is said to be seeking stability for family reasons and would likely be open to a loan that does not uproot personal life. From a sporting perspective, Everton boss David Moyes may also be open to building his system around the attacker should a deal prove viable.

The question now is whether the financial and structural requirements of such a deal can be met, with Grealish’s £300,000-per-week wages likely to remain a significant hurdle for any suitor outside the traditional top six.
