An all-Premier League Europa League final is on the cards later this month, cue a mad scramble for Tottenham and Manchester United fans searching for flights and hotels in Bilbao.

Spurs have one foot in the final after a 3-1 semi-final first leg win over Bodo/Glimt on Thursday night.

Goals from Brennan Johnson, James Maddison and Dominic Solanke had Ange Postecoglou’s side in cruise control after an hour, but Ulrik Saltnes’ late deflected strike does provide a different outlook to the tie ahead of next week’s second leg in Norway.

Meanwhile, Man Utd are all-but guaranteed to return to the San Mames after dispatching Athletic Club 3-0 in the first leg.

Of course, the makeup of this season’s Europa League final won’t be confirmed until after the semi-final second legs next Thursday. But with the final taking place on Wednesday May, 21, 2025, that is not a lot of time for supporters to plan journeys and book flights and hotels.

Getting to Bilbao on the day of the final is going to be an issue for supporters with no direct flights into the city.

A leading airline states the quickest return option from Manchester to Bilbao, flying out the day of the final and coming home the day after, costs £1,173 per person.

Meanwhile the quickest return option from London to Bilbao, flying out the day of the final and coming home the day after, costs £1,728 per person.

The search for somewhere to stay is equally fierce, with one leading hotel website boasting that all but four of its rooms in Bilbao were already booked up for the day of the Europa League.

That leaves hotel rooms selling for thousands of pounds with one, which would normally be available for less than £200, going for £2,820 on Friday.
