Suitors continue to line up for unsettled Lazio centre-back Samuel Gigot, as PAOK FC became the latest club to enquire about his services.

The Background

The 31-year-old joined the Biancocelesti last summer, completing a deadline-day switch from Olympique Marseille after falling out of favour with Roberto De Zerbi. The Frenchman had a decent first season in Italy, albeit he wasn’t a regular for Marco Baroni, who favored the partnership of Mario Gila and Alessio Romagnoli.

Samuel Gigot No Longer Needed at Lazio

With Maurizio Sarri back at Formello, the defensive partnership of Gila and Romagnoli should remain intact, but Gigot is no longer considered the first option off the bench. The 66-year-old tactician has been impressed by the young Oliver Provstgaard, and he would like to maintain the services of his old ally, Patric. Hence, Gigot has become surplus to requirements.

PAOK Interested in Gigot

In recent weeks, the former OM defender has been heavily linked with the exit door, especially after attracting suitors from the Arab world, particularly from Qatar and the UAE. According to Il Messaggero, PAOK has also joined the fray, expressing their interest in the experienced Frenchman.

Lazio Set Their Asking Price

The Greek side is hoping to book their place in the Europa League group stage, and they’re currently preparing to battle their Austrian opponents, Wolfsberger, in the third qualifying round. Therefore, PAOK would like to bolster their ranks with renowned profiles like Gigot. For their part, Lazio would be willing to offload the player for an offer of €3-4 million.
